Alex and Ine left on their journey early this morning, departing from the classic Cine Gaumont on the Congressional Plaza (Plaza Congreso), which, as the name implies, is in front of the National Congress. The launch received a small amount of press coverage, including a write up in La Nación, and Rodando Cine was on the road by 9:00 am.
I wanted so badly to be there to take a few photos and to wish them well, but I got off to a slow start and just missed the official launch by a few minutes, even after rushing my harried taxi driver all the way across town.
Alex, Ine and I connected by email the next day and committed to stay in touch.
The adventure has begun!
Rodando Cine made its first successful projection the night of December 31, 2007, at Hospital San Blas in the village of Nogoyá to a crowd of about 35 people, interrupted only once when an ambulance roared into the hospital yard with its siren blaring carrying an emergency case!
It is an auspicious beginning.
