At a local industry watering hole with an inexpensive and lively happy hour mixer this evening, I met an interesting woman named Jill who is a television producer. She was an engaging conversationalist. We talked about the projects we were working on, shared work related war stories and exchanged political predictions for the election, both of us believing Obama would win handily. When I mentioned my time in Argentina, Jill surprised me with an exclamation that she "loved" Argentina and wanted to live there.

What made this so interesting is that Jill had worked as part of the team running the Buenos Aires segment of the World Tour for Sting and the Police last year.
Ironically, Michael, our incredible Argentine producer for the El Norte project, had worked as the lead Argentine coordinator for the Buenos Aires leg of the Police tour, which was filmed for inclusion in the tour's final DVD package. (Click image at left for video from their Bs As performance.)
In addition to his production work, Michael set up tango lessons for Sting and his wife, provided the various band members with local cell phones, printers, transportation, VIP tickets, etc. He was at the heart of the project in Buenos Aires.
I asked Jill if she knew Michael, and after a bit of back and forth, the bulb went on and she realized she did know him, and quite well. They had interacted on a daily basis, and he had proven to be a capable backstage producer and facilitator who could get things done.
In a later Skype call, it also took Michael a few minutes to remember Jill, and he then realized that he still had her unclaimed backstage pass from the Police tour hanging in his home office. She had never claimed it, she later told me, because she never needed it.
They both thought highly of one another's professionalism.
We often hear that it is a small world. Tonight, Jill added an exclamation point to the statement!
